Madeleine Blais is a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist and author of The Heart is an Instrument, a collection of articles she wrote for the Miami Herald in the eighties. In These Girls Hope is a Muscle, which documents the championship season of a girl’s high school basketball team in a small town in Western Massachusetts, was named one of the one hundred best sports books of the twentieth century by ESPN and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle.  She is currently working with noted opera singer, Sharon Spinelli, on a musical based on her family memoir, Uphill Walker. To the New Owners was excerpted in Vanity Fair and featured on Weekend Edition. She is also currently working on a biography of a tennis legend and a collection of her personal essays.
